GPS Mapping

GPS (Global Positioning System) mapping utilizes a constellation of satellites orbiting the earth. Unique signals from each satellite are continually broadcast providing their exact location and altitude. On the ground, the GPS receiver simultaneously Forester collecting GPS datacollects the signals from multiple satellites, analyzes for quality, triangulates, and provides the precise location of the user.

Rawlings Consulting Forestry utilizes GPS equipment manufactured by Trimble Navigation providing sub-meter accuracy on-the-move and an occupied accuracy within inches.

GIS Mapping

GIS (Geographical Information System) mapping is a software package that combines and analyzes data from numerous sources. Using GIS data available from public and private sources, combined with on-site collected GPS data and deed descriptions, points of interest can be analyzed and graphically displayed in the form of charts, graphs, maps, and numeric measurements.

Rawlings Consulting Forestry utilizes GIS software developed by ESRI.
